Destined

I thought I was destined to die young…
But yet I am still here…
I have faced so many challenges…
Namely joy, pain, hurt and fear…
I thought I was destined to be a hustla…
And I banged the block for years…
All that brought about was incarceration…
Time away from my family and peers…
I thought I was destined to be insane…
I even tried my hand at suicide…
But of course that was not meant to be…
Because I am here breathing and alive…
I thought I was destined to be in love forever…
With that special one you all know…
But life came up with a different plan…
And I lost the one that I loved so…
I thought I was destined to be a monster…
Once I received this scar on my face…
But people still seem to like my look…
So that helped to restore my faith…
I thought I was destined to walk this world blind…
Not knowing who I was or who I wanted to be…
Then I picked up a pen and pad…
And discovered the artist in me…

I was destined to die young…
My youth died and I became mature…
I was destined to hustle and be locked up…
To share all the things I endured…
I was destined to be insane…
And be able to bring those thoughts to light…
I was destined to be in love forever…
With writing, basketball and life…
I was destined to wear this scar on my face…
It has become a big part of me…
I was destined to walk the world blind…
So that I could open my eyes and see…
That I am Destined!
